Quick Tips to Do-It-Yourself
As with any do-it-yourself project, make sure to follow the instructions closely and go slowly. Doing so will make the refill process easier and will also decrease the likelihood of damaging the cartridge.
- In the instruction booklet, locate the page that corresponds with your specific cartridge.
- Prep your work area before beginning. We recommend covering your work surface with a cloth or absorbent material and using a pair of plastic gloves.
- Nukote ink is non-toxic so there is no need to worry if you get ink on your hands. Simply wash with soap and water. If ink remains, spray a small amount of household cleaner directly on your hands, massage off the remaining ink and wash with soap and water.
- Do not allow your cartridge to completely run out of ink before you refill it. AS SOON as your printer indicates that your cartridge needs to be replaced, it is time to refill your cartridge. If you wait too long, the ink residue may dry and clog the cartridge, resulting in a damaged or unusable cartridge.
- When filling a color cartridge, check to make sure that you fill the correct chamber with the correct color ink.
- Don’t skip the last step. Let your cartridge sit for at least 10 minutes before installing it back into your printer. Otherwise you may experience poor test prints or a leaky cartridge.
- If the outside of your cartridge has ink on it, wipe dry with a soft cloth. A properly refilled printer cartridge may not look brand new but that will not affect its performance.
